Confused

This is where the no-brain Christian Zionist contradictions become hilarious. If Barack Obama is really a Muslim, would he push for MORE abortions and homosexual marriages?

If I'm current on the latest, most fashionable anti-Muslim propaganda couture, Islam is supposed to be oppressive to women and homosexuals.

But what kind of sense can be expected from people who think that Israel can be secular despite the fact that its sole justification for existence is the most fundamentalist, literal interpretation of the Old Testament?

Happy Dia de los Muertos, since we are speaking of something macabre. Yes, I agree with you here. The totality of contradictions made by those claiming to be conservative is really sad. I think I might not even use that word as much anymore because it doesn't mean what it purports to mean...The out and out racism and prejudice is hurtful to me. We are supposed to be in fucking 2008 but people are acting like the Red hot summer of 1918, so I am disgruntled and frightened as a result.

Given your heritage, I am sure you have been disgusted with the anti Arab anti Muslim racism espoused by the religious right. And sadly, I almost fell into that bs until I got a reality check. I am praying for our country to get through this nasty time and hope that we can get our head out of our asses!

Hey Mahndisa,

It's crazy-making trying to keep track of all the nonsense getting peddled in the name of "conservative" philosophy.

The balkanization of America, coupled with the obscene hatred that is being spewed at political rallies makes me very concerned for whether this country has a future.

God help us.

Yes II, sadly I agree. To let you know what people really say behind closed doors, I was talking to some buddies about politics and 911a coupla years back and they talked about this comedien they saw on TV. He stood out because he said "Black people loved 911 cuz it gave America another nigga..." I have seen very odd bedfellows get together to cast aspersions on people of Arab decent and people who are Muslim in faith.

This, I cannot abide. Yet, the reality of that comedien's statement rings true. I have seen and heard hate fests with religious so called conservatives and fundamentalist Christians. There is more than enough hatred of Muslims and Arabs to go around and this hate spew is echoed by people of all colors, except those from the Middle East.

I would like to believe that most people aren't that obtuse or prejudicial, but have learned that is not the case.

Lastly, I have been reading a lot about racism and coded language. I am sick and tired of coded language being used in this campaign.

Oh, I finished watching that movie Zeitgeist per your recommendation and thank you for it. OK rant over. Funny how having a child gets you thinking really deeply about things...

Neocon theory requires an external enemy for internal cohesion and the media have done a fine job convincing guillible Americans that Arab Muslims are hiding under the beds waiting to eat their children.

I've traveled to several countries where there are big populations of gypsies. And in each place, we've been warned about the diversion tactics they use to rob unsuspecting tourists. They start a commotion in one side of the room and, while everyone is looking and distracted, they clean up. Nothing different than all the ballyhoo about Arabs and Muslims.

So, while Joe American is on high alert for Mohamed, Ahmed and Osama, he wasn't paying attention while Greenspan and Bernanke were picking his pockets. And now his 401k is worthless, his home is in foreclosure, he stands no chance of retiring and, at this point, the best he can do is hope that he can retain a minimum wage job so his family doesn't starve to death.

Who is the real enemy?

Anyhoo, I could go on for days...

Did you watch the movie or the addendum? Was it the 3-part piece about religion, 9/11 and the banking system?

Did you enjoy it?

Yes, II I watched the movie and I liked it but it was dark and scary. I also watched the link to the movie you gave earlier today with the three hour movie and they were saying that the structure of fractional reserve banking is just a high falutin hustle from the goldsmith days. Whoodathunkit?!! Thanks for pointing me to these resources, however dark they may be. I cannot have my head in the sand any longer.

Ok, you have to be one of the only people on the planet who actually got through the 3 1/2 hours. That's a testament to your intellectual curiosity. :-)

Crazy though, huh?

After I watched those things, I felt like I really never knew anything.

I'm curiious - in your first comment, you said you almost fell into the anti-Arab b.s. until you got a reality check. What was the reality check?

Hello again II:
The reality check was that I looked at some bigoted website that I was about to comment on and asked myself what the fuck I was doing there! I also fell into the trap of critisizing Mohammed for marrying a young girl, which has been verified but is interpreted controversially regarding when he consumated his marriage to her. I made statements about that but was somewhat disingenuous because I could have also pointed to problems I have with the Bible as well. I have always been an advocate of equal rights and fairness in our society. My ancestry is African, European and Native American and if I was to be true to the struggles of ALL of my ancestors I could not brook listening to that racist tripe.

So the reality check was asking myself what am I all about and going from there. Incidentally, blogging exposes ones ideas to folks that may not have ever come across them. I think it is tempting to say incindiary stuff to get better blog ratings. But in the end, that isn't why I began blogging in the first place, so ego check was part of the reality check as well.

That's very introspective of you.

Yeah, I find it amazing how these armchair religious scholars go on for days about this and that from the Quran or what the Prophet Mohamed may or may not have done, but seem to forget that the Old Testament is no children's fairy tale.

Indeed, I challenge any of them to put the OT up against the Quran to see which has far more troubling edicts.

Anyhoo, it still puzzles me how they fight against secularism here in America, yet countenance the funding and military support of the secular nation of Israel, where prostitution and abortion are legal and homosexuals serve in the military.

Good dialogue.

What surprises me is that I have very good friend, and family members, who despite the fact, being very well educated, have a surprising lack of true intellectual curiosity.

There is always a silver lining out there. These elements of hate that are bubbling to the surface, represent something that the nation has to acknowledge and address.

Mr. Sleep,

I find more and more that education and intellectual curiosity do not go hand in hand. In fact, it's a sad state of affairs when educated people are the least curious. They become so comfortable and arrogant with their "education" that they think they've learned all there is to know.

A bumper sticker caught my eye the other day, which read "how do you know your mind is working if you haven't changed it lately?"

Thought that was a great sentiment.

Still I am hoping the country recognizes the fact we have got work together for good of the country starting for thing on Wednesday.

Stupid is as stupid does. There are fringe elements that are braindead, so let's hope the thinking portion of the population wakes up.

Interesting reading about Mahndisa's ancestry.

We are all from a melting pot of ethnic backgrouds and cultures.

That has always been a strength of America. Somehow, too many people forget this.

I won't do my full split, as some of it gets into tiny percentages.

Fathers Mother born in Denmark.
Fathers Father born in Germany.
Mothers Father born in Sweden
Mothers Mother born in Oklahoma.
- Mothers Mothers parents primarily of German extraction, however there is some Cherokee blood, back a generation or two, on my Mothers, Mothers, Mothers side.

There may be some Prussian elements too based upon the genealogical research my Aunt has done (Dad's sister).

It is amazing how many people say Oboma is a Muslim when he has said many times he is a Christian!

I am not sure he is a good Christian because he is extremeist on the Abortion issue, being in favor of killing even attempted abortion babies that are declared alive out of the woom, but that is another matter...he is a Christian, period!

Let's hope for civility instead of "unity" because it then becomes who's "side" to unite on and we all know that there is a true need for dissent, erst the "yin and yang" would not be the single most important concept in the Universe. Without the Yin and Yang there is NO CHOICE, and without choice there is no freedom.

FAR.
