Jewish Women Fight Holy War

Orthodox members of the Israeli parliament drafted a bill to amend an existing law that regulates behaviour at holy places, to include a prison sentence for women wearing a prayer shawl or reading aloud from the Torah near the Wailing Wall. They originally proposed a seven-year jail sentence, but this has now been changed to three years.

The Israeli Supreme Court reaffirmed the women's right to pray aloud at the wall, but said that because it upset the Orthodox community they should not be allowed to do so in front of the Wailing Wall. Instead, the court told the government to prepare a separate place for the women next to an archaeological site, away from the main wall.

Separate But Equal in a supposedly "secular" "democracy".

Orthodox Jews Are Protecting Their Pedophiles

The Brooklyn district attorney's office last month announced a hotline for alleged Orthodox sex abuse victims, says it has 19 active cases of alleged sex abuse in the borough's Orthodox Jewish community. And advocates say the problem extends beyond Brooklyn.
"If you're a pedophile, just go to one of the orthodox communities. You're probably safest there," said New York State Assemblyman Dov Hikind, himself an Orthodox Jew. "It's sad for me to say that, but it's true."

  1. what a frigg'n mess.

With 'democratic' allies like this - who needs enemies?

Get all that religious non-sense out of government. ... of course, since Israel is a Jewish state, that's impossible.

  4. Anonymous you oughta research before you get defensive in the Talmud, Book Sanhedrin 54b clear as day talks about throwing guilt and how a very young child may not be aware enough to feel guilty so if the kid is under nine years of age, the molestation ain't treated like pedophilia.

That is some sick shit. I don't give a damn if the authors claimed to get this info from God. Their interpretation of God seriously departs from my own.

  5. This is what happens when we have people writing about what "they", (those Jewish scholars who write about the Torah), percieve and then call it the "Talmud."

The Torah, (First 5 books of the Bible), don't have anything as silly as this.

The more distant the past, the more we rationalize the acts of men today.

There are "radicals" in every religion.

You would never know that the "God of Abraham" is the same for Christians, Jews, and Muslims if you listen to each describe him.

Are we heading for a "rude awakening?"

    FAR.

  6. RR:

Most Jews in Israel are secularists, and not religious.

The governing body is also secular. The Jewish people are and can be described as both a "race" and a religion.

The few who are acting this way should not be looked upon as the view of the majority.

There are good people in all lands and the rest should not be judged by the few bad eggs, just like we should not judge those great wonderful Muslims who are not radical.

The most wonderful people I know are Muslim and yet a few give the whole religion a bad name.

Judge individuals, not groups, and if you do judge groups, look to what the "majority do" and not what you "percieve" as their doctrine.

    FAR.
