The Global Warming Trojan Horse

Whether or not the earth really is warming and whether or not it is caused by man's activities, mindful people must be vigilant and cautious about the manipulation of the issue and how it will be used to advance the agendas of those who rule. My speculation, until now, has been that it would be used to justify the construction of nuclear power plants on every corner, but I must admit that I did not see this Fox News Headline coming -

"Woman Aborts Child To Help Save the Planet"

Fascinating timing for the article. This woman had an abortion TEN years ago, but as we enter into the worldwide holiday season (Eid Kibeer, Christmas and Hanukkah), the UK Daily Mail and Fox News drag this yahoo out of the woodwork to plant the seed that your kids are not a source of joy, but evidence of your selfishness.

Abortion and birth control used to be the exclusive domain of the feminist cause, but now that those bitter whores have been largely discredited and rendered obsolete, the marketers have repackaged the issue and are introducing it via a new Trojan Horse.

Fool me once, shame on you...

And this woman of course is representative of the planet's three billion. What we attempt to portray as typical says more about us than about what's typical.

Very good point Captain.

I would hope she's not typical but, seeing the way the media operate, this is how trends of thought are started. Sadly, her story may become typical in 10 years.

media marketers? hmmm. 1984 here we come. no point having free thought, we'll tell you what to think.

I have many very intelligent friends, well paid, important jobs. In their worklife they make tough, well informed decisions. In the real world, outside of work, they are easily manipulated by media or political spin. Even investing a tiny bit of research, would allow them to make informed decisions about key political races, or issues facing our nation.

The sad fact is they make the majority of their voting decisions otherwise. My friends are seeing first hand my growing irritation about this :)

It's hard to be informed about science these days simply because the rate of new knowledge has accelerated to the point that most of what we know about certain subjects is very recent. It doesn't help that our educational system is geared toward job training and not general knowledge.

Very few people have a clue about what has been learned in the last five or ten years in genetics, paleontology, cosmology and a host of other things and if they don't know, they often refuse to believe anyone else knows.

I had a conversation with someone not long ago - someone with a master's degree in education and she asserted that I was lying about being able to read Hieroglyphics because she had no idea that Champolleon had decoded them over 200 years ago. I think she still thinks I'm a phony.

How many people do you know with a degree in Paleoclimatology or who has spent 15 minutes reading up on the body of knowledge that's been accumulated in the last 50 years? It's easier simply to mock and you can always find enough people to mock along with you.

Maybe we're better off that this idiot didn't become someone's mother? Just saying. . .

Those worthy take the job on joyfully.
