If This Isn't Ethnic Cleansing, What Is It?

The following exchange among Israeli soldiers confirms that this isn't about Hamas and some stupid rockets that land in parking lots. This is extermination, plain and simple.

The soldier in the watchtower radioed his colleagues after he saw Iman: "It's a little girl. She's running defensively eastward."

Operations room: "Are we talking about a girl under the age of 10?"

Watchtower: "A girl of about 10, she's behind the embankment, scared to death."

A few minutes later, Iman is shot in the leg from one of the army posts.

The watchtower: "I think that one of the positions took her out."

The company commander then moves in as Iman lies wounded and helpless.

Captain R: "I and another soldier ... are going in a little nearer, forward, to confirm the kill ... Receive a situation report. We fired and killed her ... I also confirmed the kill. Over."

Witnesses described how the captain shot Iman twice in the head, walked away, turned back and fired a stream of bullets into her body. Doctors at Rafah's hospital said she had been shot at least 17 times.

On the tape, the company commander then "clarifies" why he killed Iman: "This is commander. Anything that's mobile, that moves in the zone, even if it's a three-year-old, needs to be killed. Over."

Yes. It is utterly shameful. Where did you get this transcript? What is your source? Pardon me if I did not notice it cited. I am tired.

It was linked from a Guardian article on my friend's Facebook page.

Hopefully the link works.

Just to clarify, this is actually an incident that happened in 2004, not during this current crisis... just want to make sure you have the correct info.

This is really a horrible, shameful action from an Israeli soldier that went crazy, probably due to the trauma that war brings. While not condoning his despicable actions, I don't think it's the overall "policy" of Israel, or any type of "ethnic cleansing". Even his own Israeli comrades objected, and tried to stop him.

Indeed Anonymous. I caught that after I posted the article, but it applied nonetheless. The guy was a military commander.

While I can appreciate the notion that people go crazy because of war, the entire population of Israel - except the ultra-orthodox - are legally required to serve in the military. So all of them are PTSD cases on legs.
