Suicide Shooters

I think today's shooting at the Amish school makes three school shootings in a week in our dear, perfect, moral, Christian nation. Add a pedophile Congressman responsible for passing legislation to protect children from sexual predators and, all in all, it's a great day in the hypocritical neighborhood.

A few thoughts on these tragic events.

Why aren't these people called suicide bombers or, more appropriately, suicide shooters? They are no different than the Palestinian suicide bombers in their quest to take some companions with them on their journey to the hereafter, yet no such label is created or applied to this sickening problem. Perhaps it is because once there is a diagnosis, you cannot continue pretending there is no disease.

Why is no mention made of the religion or race of the culprits? Amazing that their cultural reverence for guns (and easy ability to obtain them) is nowhere mentioned in the media as a possible contributing factor to such behavior. If they weren't White or Christian, rest assured we would hear all about their racial and religious backgrounds.

Is it just me or does it seem odd that the party of God -- in Arabic Hizballah, in English Republicans -- sent their pedophile comrade to an alcohol treatment center instead of to church? I thought Jesus was the answer to sin. Apparently, the American hizballah have more faith in AA than they do in their so-called religion.

If we are fighting them over there so we don't have to fight them over here, does that mean the U.S. military is going to start bombing the home towns of all the suicide shooters? Following the Bush logic, that seems like the most sensible way to protect innocent schoolgirls from the terrorists that prey upon them. Indeed, unless you accept enemy propaganda, you know that random people who had nothing to do with attacks against you like being bombed, will welcome you as a liberator and will not be inspired to fight you.

"Terrorists" are never going to destroy this country from the outside. We are doing a fine job of it on our own internally.

There are three power possessor groups in our society. The Political, the Corporate, and the Military. Four if we count the Religious.

While we were warned of the Military/Industrial/Congressional complex taking over , we have slept through the period of their taking over to the point that most Americans are unaware that it happened.

Of these power possessor's one group could play a huge role in the soon to be future.
The military.
If it is true that our society is now governed by the corporations , with the complicity of a fake political system run also by the corporations through a series of money schemes , then who is left to possibly save us. The military.

Rumour has it that the military is taking a hard look at Bush and the other so called political side, and thinking perhaps it is time to depose our political system.
Would this be a good idea.? It may be better than some of the alternatives.
Bush is a phony religious dissembler as Clinton was. Both so called sides are working not for the American people , but to loot our country.
These leaders we have now will turn on us just the way they have killed , tortured and murdered any others in the world who oppose them.

Could it take a military coup in this country to recapture it from the politicians , who work for the coporations in actuality.?

It may be time for another American revolution. Our political system reinforces our prison camp society of class, and dumbed down life in America.
Do you like being a part of the Axis of Evil. America, Britain, and Israel.?
We need rescue, and then lets not go back to this form of government. Lets do something a lot more creative.

Interesting observation... suicide shooters.

I need to dwell on some of the similarities you point out. The hypocrisy is evident, but the analogy bugs me.

Maybe its my own biases...

Dems and Repubs are the same. NO difference. 08 means more of the same. Control by Corporatocracy.
The Congress on both sides is bought and paid for.
Politics is the problem now , not the solution.
Left and Right have been tricked into thinking they are different. They aren`t.
Both uphold the current system, which has no values, and will wind up destroying us if we don`t change into something else.
The meaning of the word alternative has been co-opted. Now it means more of the same in mainstream America.

...and how much do you want to bet that the guy was a registered repug, like Timothy McVeigh and the Atlanta bomber?

Conservatism breeds terrorism. Just ask Ann Coulter.

Not sure this guy is a Wingnut or Moonbat. For sure he's a wacko.

Referring to him as a Terrorist is probably harsh. He's just nuts, and his agenda was personal, and distorted in nature.

McVeigh? A Terrorist for sure.

Still you are correct in that the Media and the Government are selective in their positioning.

Abortion Clinic Bombers could be considered to be Terrorists. Bombers or Arsonists targeting various various religious or ethnic denominations are Terrorists.

FYI. New letter posted.

Reign, I agree somthing about II's comparison is irksome.

Maybe it is because you won't find Christian leaders praising the actions of the killers? Maybe you won't find instructions to convert-or-kill in the Bible? Seen any Fatwawa's from the "Bible Belt" about how it's ok to kill school children?

Maybe the conceptual leap of "bombing our own cities" is just so far off the planet as a comparison that there is a serious question of perspective? What exactly is the root of your anger II?

BTW: Here is an update on the Foley brewhaha www.drudgereport.com/flashmfa.htm
the "child victim of that hypocritical republican scumbag" was an adult at the time of the IMs

Of course if he was a Democrat running a gay prostitution ring out of his home that would be absolutely no problem.

Actually, Possum, if I may be so bold as to correct you and Mister Drudge, this isn't a 'brouhaha' - it's a case where the repug leadership ignored and then covered up for a predatory pedophile out of fear of losing a congressional seat. And not coincidentally, you can't be over 18 and a congressional page - which all of the people (and I stress the plural) who have come forward were at the time they were molested by typical exponent of repug "values".

Which, coincidentally, makes Foley the fourth repug Congressman to resign in disgrace this year.

So might I cordially suggest you move on from your state of denial and smell the vaseline. And if you're still drinking the Koolaid, you're no better than Foley. In a word, sleaze.

Have a nice day.

What does this point have to do with anything?

One of the biggest and baddest of the Christian leaders today is Pasture John Hagee. I watch him once in a while for kicks.
Now this guy is preaching some mighty powerful hate.
Another is Jack VanImpe. he gets a great crazy gleam in his eye when talking about his hate mongering.

Organized religion is the essence of bigotry. If you are not a Christian in the coming conflagration you are going to get your ass toasted , according to them.
These Christians may be the death of us, they sure seem like a dangerous bunch of loony tunes. That nut Bush has his finger on the button.
He might push it to make Jesus come back.
lord protect me from your people.

The religious people are the front people for our crooked system.
Religion is a broken crutch for the crippled life of our souls.

In general, Possum is right: for the most part Christians don't call for the killing of innocents...

anymore

They had their hey-day when they were backed by the governments of Europe. We called the period the Dark Ages: full of inquisitional killings, state enforced ignorance, etc.

As for the Foley debacle, Stalin pointed out the relevant fact: if the party of "family values" is truly concerned about children, they would have investigated this sicko at the first sign of trouble. But in true form, power and party outweighed the responsibility to look out for kids.

So, once again, we see the real "family values" of the republican party on full display.

"He who has eyes, let him see."

RoR,

what really astounds me about this scandal is that some people - like Possum above - are still clutching at straws to make this whole thing look less bad.

As far as I'm concerned, that makes them no better than the powerbrokers who covered it up in the first place. They enable and condone the molestation of high school students by Congressmen, because they love their power so much.

And that is sick and depraved. They should be hanging their heads in shame, not babbling about how it's all someone else's fault. It's their fault, end of story.

From what's been reported so far, not much of a sex scandel, if there's no sex involved.
Funny.

Leo, if this isn't much of a scandal, then there was no reason for Foley to resign, no?

At 1:13 PM, October 06, 2006 , Blogger mrsleep said...

Leo, let's not sidetrack this now, it's turning into a circus faster than Monica can pull her dress off :)

What we know is he had to go. What we know is that the Republican leadership in Congress should have done something about this long ago. They only have themselves to blame. They could have asked him to resign for personal reasons, and this stuff might not have ever come out. If it did come out, they at least could have been viewed as taking action.

Now, the ONLY conclusion that can be reached is that they put Party above Principle. The root cause of all of this is unfettered arrogance, pure and simple.

You reap what you sow. I don't fault the Dem's at all. There is Blood in the Water.

The Wingnuts will take this one in the ass and they deserve it.

The irony of it all is that it was a Gay Republican that did it to them. Better slam that Closet closed. No telling what other humiliating things lurk in there. Where Jeff Gannon when we need him?

Leo said: So, how does this FOLEY thing fit in, when even the supposed VICTIM now admits it was a prank that got out of control?

Untrue. Back it up, without using some winger smear site. Either do that, or find yourself at the moral level of a pedophile.

If you're not already, that is. And I think you are - no better than Foley, Reynolds or Hastert. In short, kiddiefuckers.

Thank you Reign for the support and thank you to Sharkey for once again proving my point: liberals always reduce themselves to name calling when making an argument.

As for the question from II on the Maybe it is because you won't find Christian leaders praising the actions of the killers?

My point is a direct response to your assertion that there is no difference between Islam and Christianity. "They are no different than the Palestinian suicide bombers in their quest to take some companions with them on their journey to the hereafter..."

Islam will command killing. Islamic preists/cleric/leaders (spend 5 minutes on MERMI to confirm) will glorify suicide bombers who go into crowded shopping plazas and blow themselves up along with innocents in the name of Allah. You will not find any Christian leaders standing up to support this man other than asking for prayer for him. Wheras Islamic martyrs are rewarded with virgins?

The question to your assertion is was he truly saved (Hebrews 6:1-8 the scorn of Jesus effort if one does fall- brings question of if they were truly saved to begin with).

Yes II, there is a difference.
